Powderkegs Weekend of Dance

Wow – what a weekend!  Beautiful scenery, delicious food and wonderful company.  Powderkegs did us proud, but I think we did ourselves proud, too.  There was some lovely dancing, and our new improved dancing on is getting us noticed as much as our hats!

I especially want to say thank you to you all for making Ralph and Florence so welcome.  I almost didn’t come, because I didn’t think I could manage on my own with the children, and of course I am so glad I did.  We had a lovely time.

Andrew is busy putting the first pictures up in the website gallery.  My SLR is out of action, so they aren’t the best quality (ditto for Lincoln) but there are some good memories there.  I hope you like them!

And lastly, if any of you are wondering what to give Kurt for Christmas, you might want to ask the guitar player from Fox’s where he got his flowers …

The Day After the Weekend Before

Well, our Weekend of Dance has been and gone, and most of the feedback I have had from our visitors has been wonderful.  The catering team have had many honourable mentions – the food was absolutely delicious! There were mishaps, but it would have been difficult to get everything perfect for so many people.  Most of the ones I have heard about would have been very hard to avoid.

I worked my socks off (or at least, as hard as I could without collapsing) but everywhere I looked there were people working harder than me.  It seems wrong to mention just a couple of people when I know that everybody did so much, but I’m not sure I saw Rosie or Janet sit down once all weekend.  And a huge vote of thanks should go to Kurt for seeing the Weekend of Dance through from its conception (haha) to it’s delivery.  He came up with a spectacular programme of events, and I know how hard he worked to make sure that it all ran smoothly.  It really was an extraordinary feat of catering, logistics and diplomacy, and Kurt carried a good deal of that on his own shoulders.

It was very hot yesterday, and after cooking and dancing and organizing and clearing up, I think most of us were absolutely shattered, but I hope that our Weekend of Dance will go down in history as a triumph, because it deserves to.  Thank you all, for everything you did – and for giving me and my family, not to mention all our visiting sides, a really wonderful experience.

I am still sifting through the 1,250 pictures I took over the weekend – and I know that there will be more from guest contributors in time!  I’m looking forward to seeing them all.  In the meantime I leave you with this:

St George’s Day

I have posted the St George’s Day pictures up in the gallery!  Yesterday was a lot of fun – although I felt for Rosie in the hot sunshine.  Thank you all for making it so special.

Ceilidh!

Dear All,

Speaking purely for myself, last night was a triumph.  Everybody was having so much fun; our visitors were all singing the praises of the band and the food and our hospitality, and it was lovely to see Kurt and Heather and Ann and Glenys getting the odd dance or two in before the end, after all their hard work!  Not to mention Jeff and Audrey on the door, and all the kitchen helpers, and everybody else too – I think we all helped to make the evening a huge success.  If this is a foretaste of what our Weekend of Dance is going to be like, I can’t wait!  Thank you all for a fabulous evening.

Straw Bear Pictures (not mine!)

Dear All,

I had an email from a guy called Tony, from Question Mark Photography who was taking pictures at Straw Bear.  He wanted to know if there were any objections – I said I was sure there wouldn’t be!  The link is http://www.questionmarkphoto.co.uk

See you all tonight.  It is touch and go whether I will have any voice.  Who knows?
